Product Description

JDM model car decals are custom-printed waterslide markings that reproduce the graphics seen on Japanese tuner, drift and street builds: dense sponsor clusters, kanji and katakana lettering, window banners, number plates and full livery sets, scaled to fit 1/64, 1/43, 1/24 and 1/18 model kits.

Why JDM graphics are harder to print than single logos

A typical JDM door is covered in dozens of small marks packed tightly together - tyre brands, oil sponsors, tuning shops, event stickers and Japanese text sitting within a few millimetres of each other. Printed badly, the cluster turns into an unreadable smear. Our prepress step rebuilds every element at its own size, sets minimum stroke widths per scale, and keeps small Japanese characters legible on 1/24 and 1/43 bodies.

  • Character legibility: kanji and katakana redrawn from your reference so strokes do not fill in at small sizes
  • Dense clusters: each sticker separated and colour-matched instead of printed as one flat block
  • Spot white underlay: so sponsor colours stay correct over white, silver, black or candy paint
  • Ultra-thin film: carrier nearly disappears under clear coat, leaving no visible edge

Markings we produce for Japanese subjects

  • Full sponsor clusters for doors, fenders, bumpers and rear quarter panels
  • Kanji, katakana and romaji lettering, including shop names and slogans
  • Windshield and rear window banners, sun strips and visor decals
  • Japanese-style number plates and prefecture plate frames
  • Hood, roof and boot graphics, racing stripes and two-tone break lines
  • Interior details: gauge faces, switch labels, seat and harness logos
  • Anime and character artwork for itasha-style builds, supplied by you with rights confirmed

Model subjects we cover regularly

Nissan Skyline R32, R33 and R34, Toyota Supra A70 and A80, Mazda RX-7 FC and FD, Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution, Subaru Impreza WRX and STI, Nissan Silvia S13 to S15, Honda Civic and Integra, and Acura NSX. If your kit is not on this list, send the body shell reference and we scale the set to it.

From reference photos to print-ready artwork

You do not need vector files. Send side, front and rear photos of the real car, screenshots from build threads, or scans of an existing decal sheet. Our designers redraw the graphics, correct proportions, and lay them out to match the panel gaps of your specific kit. A digital proof showing placement on the body comes back before anything is printed.

Film, ink and finish options

Standard production uses ultra-thin waterslide film with a spot white underlay and a gloss clear coat. Satin and matte finishes are available for weathered or track-day builds. Inks are RoHS compliant and hold colour outdoors, so the same sheet works for display models and RC bodies.

Ordering, MOQ and lead times

Mixed sheets are welcome - combine several cars on one sheet to reach a practical minimum order. Digital proofs are free, physical samples take about 5 to 7 days, and production runs follow after approval. We ship worldwide with tracking and can split shipments across several addresses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need permission to print brand logos found on JDM cars?

Yes. Trademarked logos, team marks and character artwork remain the property of their owners. We print them only when you confirm you hold the rights or that the use is licensed. For personal one-off builds we can also substitute generic sponsor marks.

Can you print very small Japanese text for 1/43 scale?

Yes, but there is a physical limit. At 1/43 we redraw characters with heavier strokes so they stay readable, and we will tell you during proofing if an element is too small to print cleanly rather than ship something illegible.

What is the minimum order for a JDM decal sheet?

One mixed sheet is usually enough for a first order. Small runs are printed digitally, while larger repeat orders move to offset or silk screen for lower unit cost. Exact pricing depends on sheet size and colour count.

How do I supply references if the car no longer exists?

Send screenshots from build threads, magazine scans, auction listings or photos of a completed model. We reconstruct the livery from what is visible and mark any uncertain element in the proof so you can approve or correct it.

Will the decals fit over panel lines and vents?

Yes. Ultra-thin film with a setting solution conforms to panel gaps, louvres and curved fenders. On very deep recesses we recommend cutting the decal at the gap, which we can pre-separate for you on the sheet.

How long does production take after proof approval?

Digital proofs come back within 24 hours on working days. Printed sheets are typically ready in 5 to 7 days, and express handling is possible for deadline builds. Shipping time depends on destination and service chosen.
